My experience and qualifications

I taught mathematics at universities in the UK and Australia for more than 25 years. I was Admissions Tutor for Mathematics at the University of Nottingham for several years, and have mentored year-13 students to success in their university applications. I have built upon this experience, supporting students in their university applications, including the UCAS application process and preparation for the MAT, TMUA and STEP exams, and interviews.

In 2022, all of the A level students that I tutored secured their first-choice university places, at Oxford, Cambridge, Bristol and York.

I have also recently taught year 7, 8, 9 and 10 classes in Nottinghamshire secondary schools, in person and online, as part of a teacher training course; through this course, I kept up-to-date with current research on how best to support students in learning mathematics.

So whether you are looking to catch up on some missed learning as you head towards GCSEs, aiming to improve your performance in A levels, in IB or in university entrance exams, I can provide you with the support you need. I can also support you in your Scottish Highers and Advanced Highers (remotely, as I am based in the East Midlands of England).

I have a First Class honours degree in Mathematics from the University of Oxford and a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Bristol.
